Responsible Sourcing
The built environment uses up to a third of the natural resources of the planet. We are depleting these faster than the Earth can replenish them.

| TOTAL | 11687 | 100 |
Through our membership of the World Wide Fund for Nature UK Forest and Trade Network since 2000 we have made significant progress in increasing the proportion of credibly certified timber we procure. Over this time we have also worked to shape and support our supply chain so that we are able to procure FSC certified timber with full chain of custody.
BuildingConfidence
In the UK, working with Achilles we initiated a supply chain accreditation system for our sector called ‘BuildingConfidence’. The system allows us to transparently select our suppliers and contractors based on their corporate governance and performance, including quality, health and safety, business continuity, environmental, social and ethical performance.
BuildingConfidence has allowed us to identify efficiencies and improvements on-site and across our supply chain. BuildingConfidence is in place across our construction sites and we’re rolling it out across our development projects and the assets and offices we manage or occupy to ensure that all of our key suppliers, service providers and contractors achieve and maintain annual accreditation.
Standard for Responsible Sourcing
The Standard for Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products was established in 2008. In 2008-9, we worked with the supply chain to achieve BES 6001 (BRE Standard) certification for concrete procurement. In the UK, we now specify concrete and rebar steel to this standard and its application is being explored for brick and block work, ensuring that we manage the supply chain risk in this area.
What's Next
In the next 12 months we will be setting out our commitment to climate change and energy management and launching a strategy to put this into practice. This will help us have a consistent approach to how we manage energy consumption and work towards our objectives across the region.

The recently completed Renzo Piano designed project is a mixed use development of commercial, retail and residential properties and achieved three separate certifications:
